Before the production of our dos PISTOLOS sprayer, the industry standard for right-of-way herbicide application was the standard “roll-over” sprayer. We started with an idea to replace this product and craft a simpler, more effective sprayer. Kenny Crewnshaw began to apply his 40 years of application experience to develop the dos PISTOLOS double-barreled sprayer, which is the only two-triggered, two-outlet sprayer on the market.

Below we are going to learn more about the advantages and disadvantages of the applicators.

Industry Standard

  • Manually change the distance of spray: With the industry standard “roll over” model you are forced to manually turn the nozzle in order to change the spray distance from near to far, or vice versa.
  • Complex repair/service: In order to service the industry standard sprayer, you will need more than just simple hand tools to maintain your product.
  • Difficult to cover more ground/area: Using the typical “rollover” sprayer you aren’t able to operate both outlets at the same time.
  • Minimal room for glove-wearing: If using protective wear on your hands when spraying, there is very little room for a spacious fit.
  • Operating struggle: When spraying with the industry standard, the sprayer is typically pulling forward and out of your hand reducing accuracy and increasing exertion of labor.

  • Single-hand operating: With two triggers in one hand, the dos PISTOLOS sprayer eases your workload by reducing the amount of steps it takes to select near or far-distance nozzles when spraying. Each trigger activates an individual nozzle.
  • Enable both triggers simultaneously: When tackling your job, you are able to apply more product to an area by activating both triggers at the same time. This will help apply to a broader region, while saving you time.
  • Simplistic design for servicing: The dos PISTOLOS sprayer has a simple design that can be maintained with almost anything flat you have laying around. By using simple hand tools, a quarter, or even a pocket knife, you will be able to service and maintain your sprayer with ease.
  • Direct assembly: With the design aspect, we created a sprayer that takes only a handful of parts to operate. By creating this simple assembly, you are able to be more efficient when servicing, assembling, or disassembling.
  • Comfortable hold: The dos PISTOLOS sprayer has a natural pointing grip angle with room for you to wear protective gloves comfortably.
  • Operate securely: Unlike the industry standard, the dos PISTOLOS sprayer reduces the labor it takes to hold as it pulls back and down into your hand. This helps to increase accuracy when spraying and secure your hold.

dos PISTOLOS – Ergonomic Standards

Making tasks more simple, efficient, effective, and user friendly are key points in producing a product. The right-of-way herbicide applicators that were in the game involved greater complexity and increased labor. With the introduction of the dos PISTOLOS sprayer, you are able to comfortably complete any task with trust that it is long-lasting. The Power of Timing: When to Spray for Weed and brush control

Overgrown vegetation and aggressive weeds are more than just an eyesore to the public. Not only do they impose a threat to our ecosystems, but they can also lead to serious hazards in right-of-ways maintained including railways, roadsides, powerlines, pipelines, and parks. As a contracted professional, it’s vital to understand how to best control these issues and when to take preventive versus corrective actions. These control methods will vary from the time of year to what and where you’ve been hired to control vegetation.

Weeding Out the Problems: Importance of Woody Brush Control in Rights-of-Ways

While trees are a common and appealing aspect to a beautifully landscaped lawn or a public park, the general public rarely considers the negative impacts they can have. For example, it is essential to maintain power line clearances in rights-of-ways to prevent outages, fires, and to make a safe place for workers to maintain the lines. And sometimes, if the trees are an invasive species, they need to be removed to protect the natural ecosystem.
